Baltimore, Maryland. 1862. A physician, brothel owner, and free Negro lawyer band together to fight an ancient vampire colony threatening their war-torn city.

Journal of Dr. Artemis Strapp | Baltimore, Maryland. 1862.

This tale of blood, strife, courage, and friendship I am to convey is true. My city is torn by the strife of the Civil War and Martial Law. But beneath this war between men and states, there is a deeper evil lurking in Baltimore. An evil that, unless checked, threatens to destroy ALL mankind.

As a former physician, I discovered my part to play in an eons-old battle between this world and creatures of the “other-natural” along with my friends and companions. Mare Adams, businesswoman and compassionate brothel owner, thrust into the position of unwilling soldier on the front lines of this battle. Lucius Williamson, the brilliant free Negro lawyer oppressed by the very society he now needs to defend, cursed with a supernatural ability called The Gift to see events others cannot.

Together, we will unite, dedicated to eradicating this ancient evil threatening to destroy the city we call home.

I endeavored to recall with great felicity, the details as much as I could recollect, so that a marker could be shared. Few will believe my tales, I know this. But, as God is my witness, I have told the truth as I, and others have seen it. Because we are…
